Full-timeInformation Technology, Engineering

Ticketebo is seeking a hands-on Technical Lead to take ownership of our PHP-based Event Ticketing systems and guide our technical direction as we continue to scale in Australia and the UK. You’ll work closely with our founder and broader team to ensure the stability, performance, and evolution of our platform — while mentoring others, driving technical best practice, and helping shape the future of our tech stack.

This is a unique opportunity for a technically strong engineer who wants to step up into a lead role — balancing hands-on development with system oversight, problem-solving, and technical leadership in a growing, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day technical operations of our current PHP-based ticketing platform, ensuring reliability and performance.
  • Maintain, improve, and evolve our legacy Magento-based system as we transition towards a modern PHP/Java framework.
  • Provide technical leadership — guide priorities, mentor developers, and champion best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Manage incidents and system issues, troubleshoot and resolve bugs, and ensure uptime for critical business functions.
  • Own DevOps processes, including Linux server administration, AWS environment management, and CI/CD improvements.
  • Contribute to frontend maintenance, ensuring our website looks and performs beautifully across devices (CSS and basic JS tweaks).
  • Drive innovation — identify opportunities for improvement, automation, and modernization of our tech stack.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Australia and the UK, translating business needs into technical outcomes.

Core Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Strong experience maintaining and running PHP-based systems (ideally including Magento or similar eCommerce platforms).
  • Linux command-line proficiency for administration, troubleshooting, and deployment tasks.
  • Reasonable understanding of frontend maintenance, (currently classic HTML/CSS server-generated pages with ongoing migration to VueJS)
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging ability — someone who enjoys diving into logs, scripts, and systems to find and fix issues.
  • Self-starter with initiative — able to take loosely defined problems and drive them through to resolution.

Highly Valued Experience:

  • Laravel or other modern PHP frameworks.
  • Java or Java Spring (or an interest in learning).
  • JavaScript and related frameworks.
  • MySQL database management.
  • AWS administration (EC2, RDS, S3, etc.).
  • Linux system administration.
  • Git and version control best practices.

What Makes This Role Unique

We’re open to candidates who may not tick every box but demonstrate strong technical aptitude and a passion for learning. If you’re curious, resourceful, and love solving technical puzzles, we’ll invest in your growth and help you develop into a confident technical leader.
