We are looking for a highly skilled and compliance-focused Director of Payroll and People Operations to lead and optimize KONE’s global payroll and people operations functions.

The Role

As Director of Payroll and People Operations, you will lead and develop KONE’s global Payroll and People Operations functions. In this role, you will drive the payroll and people operations strategy and ensure compliance in close collaboration with P&C Services, regional Areas, and Front Lines.

You will work closely with KONE Assurance and Internal Controls to strengthen compliance by planning and executing annual audits within payroll operations. Acting as the business owner for payroll technologies at the global level, you will partner with KONE IT, P&C Operations Development, and KONE Sourcing to ensure efficient, compliant, and future-ready payroll processes.

This is a high-impact role for an operational leader and strategic thinker who excels at driving accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across global processes. You will work cross-functionally to harmonize payroll and people operations, ensuring alignment with our governance standards, employee experience goals, and business strategy. Acting as the business owner for payroll technologies, you will lead process optimization and risk management while fostering collaboration with IT, HR, and Finance teams and ensuring alignment with our values, “Rise” strategy and stakeholder expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leader of KONE Payroll and People Operations functions on KONE level
  • Owner of KONE payroll strategy and payroll process area on KONE level
  • Owner of KONE payroll global development and improvement roadmap
  • Act as the key counterpart towards global business projects impacting pay & payroll, such as FSM, BPR, M&A’s and major re-orgs
  • Lead, guide, support and co-ordinate KONE Payroll Development activities in local payroll operations
  • Drive operational excellence, efficiency and continuous improvement activities in KONE Payroll and People Operations in close collaboration with Global P&C, P&C Services, Areas and Frontlines.
  • Plan and execute annual payroll audits with KONE internal controls, KONE Business Assurance teams and external auditors
  • Drive scope and role clarity within the people operations function
  • Own the KONE level Operations and Payroll IT architecture roadmap with KONE IT

What We’re Looking For:

  • M.Sc.or Bachelor degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • 7-10 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in multinational company
  • Business experience is an asset
  • Fluency of English + knowledge of one additional area language is an asset
  • Deep understanding on managing/developing payroll function on a global scale
  • Experience in formulating and executing payroll strategies
  • Background from operational leadership roles within HR, Comms, Finance, IT or other relevant function
  • Deep understanding of HR process landscape and IT architecture
  • Deep understanding of People Operations service management processes
  • Broad HR experience / roles as an advantage
  • Business background / roles as an advantage
  • Proven track record of successful roles in multi-cultural business environment
  • Experience in working across functional/business lines in a global matrix organization
  • Hands-on project management and change management experience
  • Experience in leading, developing and coaching P&C professionals
