Data Engineer (Process Intelligence)

At Wassching, we help clients uncover the true drivers of operational complexity—the “invisible handbrake” quietly draining 20–30% of their revenue. Your mission? Rip that handbrake off.

You’re the technical engine of our Reveal phase, the one who turns messy, scattered, legacy data into a clear, objective picture of how a company actually runs. This isn’t a behind-the-scenes support role; it’s a core part of our strategy and our impact.

Your Mission

Power the entire Wassching approach—Reveal, Reframe, Redesign, Run—by building the scalable data foundations that our Process Intelligence and AI solutions rely on. You’re not just creating pipelines; you’re crafting durable data products that fuel continuous improvement and keep our clients moving forward.

What You’ll Do

1. Data Acquisition & Connectivity
  • Extract data from complex, fragmented client systems (ERP, SAP, ITSM, DevOps, legacy environments).
  • Build and secure robust data connections (JDBC, APIs, streaming).
  • Map and document source systems and extraction logic.

2. Data Transformation & Modeling
  • Design and implement scalable process-mining-ready data models.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL and Python transformations.
  • Enrich event logs with financial, operational, and contextual data to quantify business impact.
  • Apply PQL (or learn it quickly) for in-platform analytics.

3. Platform Ownership & Governance
  • Act as technical owner of our Process Intelligence platform (e.g., Celonis).
  • Ensure performance, data integrity, governance, and auditability.
  • Support continuous monitoring in the Run phase.

4. Collaboration & Consulting
  • Work directly with consultants and client stakeholders.
  • Translate technical realities into business impact.
  • Contribute to building the Reframe business case using your data models.

What You Bring

Must-haves
  • 3–5+ years in data engineering, data consulting, or BI engineering.
  • Deep mastery of SQL (your native language).
  • Strong ETL/ELT and data modeling expertise.
  • Hands-on experience with major data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake).
  • Experience extracting data from complex ERP systems (preferably SAP).
  • Solid Python skills for transformation and integration.
  • Experience with process mining platforms.
  • A relevant educational background such as a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field. A master’s degree is a bonus but not required if your experience speaks for itself.

Nice-to-haves
  • PQL (Process Query Language).
  • Kafka or other streaming technologies.
  • Knowledge of ITSM systems (e.g., ServiceNow) or legacy environments.
  • Experience building integrations between systems or platforms (APIs, event-driven connections, etc).

Who You Are (The Wassching Fit)
  • A pragmatic engineer who thinks in business outcomes, not technical elegance.
  • Curious, persistent, and energized by messy, undocumented systems.
  • A clear communicator who’s comfortable with stakeholders.
  • Independent, proactive, and unafraid to challenge assumptions—including ours.
  • Someone who builds solutions that last, not quick fixes.

What We Offer

  • A front-row seat in building a high-performance powerhouse.
  • Complex, high-impact client problems (the fun ones).
  • A international, smart and ambitious team to work, grow, innovate, and have lots of fun with.
  • Competitive compensation, plenty of development opportunities, and ownership from day one.
  • A modern and cozy water-front workplace in our Amsterdam HQ on Java Island and much love from our office dog James.
  • Hybrid/remote flexibility depending on the project—balancing collaboration with the freedom to work where you’re most effective.

If you’re looking for a place where your expertise actually moves the needle, we’d love to hear from you!
