We’re looking for a Senior Back-End Developer who thrives on optimization, clean code, and scalable architecture — someone who can bring creativity and structure to a complex, fast-evolving platform.

Role Overview

As a Senior Back-End Developer at DogPack, you will take the lead on improving and refining our Laravel-based backend. You’ll review our entire API structure, remove redundant or repeated code, and ensure all services are optimized for performance and scalability. This role requires deep technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and an obsession with clean, maintainable systems.

Key Responsibilities

• API Optimization: Review and refactor existing APIs to improve structure, efficiency, and reliability.
• Code Maintenance: Identify and remove redundant or repetitive code while maintaining system stability.
• Architecture: Ensure our Laravel backend is scalable, modular, and easy to maintain as we continue to grow globally.
• Database Management: Optimize MySQL database performance and structure for fast and reliable data access.
• Security: Implement and maintain best practices for backend and API security.
• Collaboration: Work closely with our team lead, front-end developers, and mobile developers to ensure seamless integration across systems.
• Documentation: Maintain clear and concise documentation for all backend processes and APIs.

Requirements

• Experience:
• 8+ years in backend development, with at least 6 years working specifically in Laravel.
• Proven experience scaling complex, high-traffic web or mobile applications.
• Technical Skills:
• Strong command of PHP, Laravel, and MySQL.
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design principles.
• Experience optimizing queries, endpoints, and database schemas.
• Familiarity with Git and version control best practices.
• Knowledge of AWS or GCP environments is a plus.
• Soft Skills:
• Detail-oriented and passionate about writing clean, readable, and standardized code.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Node.js or other backend frameworks.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
• Knowledge of caching, queue management, and load balancing techniques.
• A passion for dogs or pet-related platforms (we consider this a big plus!).
