The Business Intelligence Analyst supports evidence-based decision-making by transforming procurement, contract, financial, and market data into actionable insights. This role delivers BI capabilities across the department, ensuring stakeholders receive timely, reliable, and meaningful information to guide performance and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver BI work products using procurement, contract, finance, and market datasets.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and analytics using tools such as SAP, Power BI, and Alteryx.
- Analyze data and prepare clear, accurate information results.
- Gather and document business and technical requirements.
- Design and build information products including data models, dashboards, and reports.
- Capture business and technical metadata for BI deliverables.
- Conduct data quality reviews, statistical analysis, data mining, and ETL-related tasks.
- Support program-level control processes including scheduling, status reporting, issues, risks, and change management.
- Produce deliverables within defined timelines and quality standards.
- Complete QA on BI products before release.
- Respond to ad-hoc data and reporting requests.
- Escalate risks and issues when required.
- Work effectively in a multi-vendor, mixed staff environment (in-house and contract resources).
Education
- Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Computer Science or related field.
- Translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Data concepts: ETL, operational data, data processing, data quality.
- Designing and presenting queries, dashboards, and reports.
- Hands-on design, development, and optimization of advanced Power BI solutions.
- Creating and implementing BI requirements.
- Dimensional modeling techniques.
- Experience working in a data warehouse or BI environment.
- Minimum 4 years in BI, data analytics, reporting, or similar environments.
Soft Skills
- Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong professional communication skills.
- Critical thinking in selecting input data and modeling methods.
- Microsoft SQL (4 years).
- Power BI, PowerView, SQL Reporting Services, Analytical Services (4 years).
- Relational database modeling techniques (4 years).
