Project Manager – Critical Communications Technology
Proposed Start Date: Mid-January 2026
Location: Hybrid - 3 days onsite, Sydney Metro area
Daily Rate: $850 + super
Duration: 6 months, opportunity to extend
About the Opportunity
Join a leading public safety organisation dedicated to protecting communities across NSW. We’re seeking an experienced Project Manager to deliver multiple high-impact technology initiatives that underpin critical communications and operational readiness.
This role requires a proactive, outcomes-driven professional with strong governance capability, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to drive clarity across complex technical workstreams. You’ll take full ownership of end-to-end delivery, from planning and scheduling through to vendor management, risk oversight, and reporting, ensuring projects are executed safely and with minimal operational disruption.
Beyond delivery, you’ll help strengthen project disciplines, foster collaboration across agencies, and contribute to continuous improvement in technology practices. Experience with mission-critical systems or government environments will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project management activities, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Define scope, objectives, and success measures in partnership with senior stakeholders.
- Manage vendor relationships, procurement processes, and contract compliance.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and facilitate collaboration across departments and external partners.
- Maintain accurate project documentation (plans, risk registers, status reports, change logs).
- Monitor progress, proactively address risks and dependencies, and ensure timely resolution.
- Provide clear, concise updates to senior stakeholders through reports and presentations.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Experience managing projects of varying size and complexity.
- Strong knowledge of project management frameworks (PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile).
- Excellent organisational and communication skills with proven stakeholder management capability.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
- Experience in emergency services, public safety, or government projects.
- Understanding of public-sector governance and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with government procurement processes.
- Relevant certifications (PMP, PRINCE2).
