Position Overview


The Technical Support Manager provides high-level technical expertise and engineering support to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all power generation assets. This role supports the COO by leading troubleshooting, performance optimization, asset integrity analysis, and technical improvement initiatives across all plants. The position acts as the technical backbone of generation operations, ensuring engineering standards, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

A. Technical Support & Troubleshooting

• Provide rapid response and expert analysis during plant trips, equipment failures, and

emergencies.

• Conduct root cause analyses (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions.

• Ensure proper documentation of technical issues, resolutions, and lessons learned.

B. Plant Performance & Optimization

• Monitor asset performance KPIs (availability, efficiency, capacity factor, reliability)

• Analyze operational data from monitoring systems to identify performance gaps.

• Recommend optimization measures to improve generation efficiency and reduce operational costs.

• Support implementation of predictive and condition-based maintenance programs.

C. Outage Planning & Maintenance Support

• Provide technical input into planned and unplanned outages.

• Review maintenance strategies, critical equipment scopes, and OEM recommendations.

• Support the COO in evaluating major maintenance budgets, priorities, and timelines.

• Supervise contractors and OEM specialists during major maintenance and overhauls.

D. Compliance, Safety & Quality Assurance

• Ensure operations comply with electricity regulations, grid codes, and HSE standards.

• Participate in incident investigations, hazard identification, and engineering risk assessments.

• Promote adherence to ISO management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 55001, etc.).

• Verify that engineering solutions meet quality, safety, and environmental requirements.

E. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Act as a key technical interface between operations, maintenance, engineering, procurement, and HSE teams.

• Advise the COO on technical risks, asset health status, outage performance, and long-term engineering needs.

• Coordinate with external stakeholders including OEMs, service providers, regulatory bodies, and consultants.

• Produce monthly, quarterly and annual reports related to the operations functions showing the performance of the O&M contractors, maintenance programs

• Development of maintained plans including preventative maintenance and ensure implantation within agreed timeframe

F. People Development

• Provide technical guidance and coaching to engineers, supervisors, and technicians.

• Identify training needs and support workforce capability-building initiatives.

• Foster a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture across plants.

Qualifications & Experience Education

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation/Control, Power Systems, or related engineering field (required).

Professional Experience

At least 9 years of relevant Experience

• Experience in operation and maintenance of power plants

• Experience in working with governmental and private sectors
