This one is for a well-established fintech start-up here in Sydney looking for a full stack software engineer with a love for coding and continuous learning. This is an excellent role for someone looking to step up from their 1st or 2nd professional software engineering role and learn from the highly seasoned existing team of 3. These folks are an absolute pleasure to work with and have proven themselves to be natural mentors.

$80K-$100K + Super

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

● Assist other engineers in the implementation of microservices designed for robust, exploding scale.

● Participate in implementing new features by translating well-defined problems into high-quality, maintainable code.

● Actively apply a quality-first approach to software development by developing and executing functional and integration tests.

● Participate in learning about new and upcoming technologies, frameworks and best practices.

● Collaborate with and seek guidance from other engineers through code, design, and architecture reviews.

● Work cross-functionally with other teams (design, product, marketing, analytics).

● Learn to support feature releases and assist in the remediation of production issues

across our services infrastructure and multiple stack levels.

● Contribute ideas and assist in writing experiment idea documents for research and

development.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

● Strong Foundational experience (academic, project, or internship) with NodeJS (Typescript)

and ExpressJS, as this stack is critical.

● A demonstrated passion for coding and continuous learning

● Strong University and course results are desirable as an indicator of strong fundamentals

● Practical exposure to modern web/mobile technologies, ideally React Web/Native.

● Practical exposure to cloud technologies, preferably AWS components such as Lambda,

DynamoDB, or API Gateway.

● Basic understanding of API security concepts, such as JWT and OAuth.

● Ideally some experience working in Fintech/financial services (not necessary, just a plus)

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN ON THE JOB:

● Strong foundational Software Engineering acumen, not just how to to get things done, but understanding the pros and cons of alternative approaches/tools and making the best decision for the specific scenario.

● Cloud infrastructure as code such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation and CDK.

● Continuous integration and delivery tools using Github and CircleCI. 

● Advanced security and operations that drive a financial services company. 

● AI and ML technologies running in a Cloud Native stack. 

● Building the skills necessary to take full ownership of feature design, architecture, and

production releases across the stack
