About The Role

Payments are fundamental to Uber's global operation across every line of business, from a rider's fare in Paris to a courier's payout in São Paulo. This is high-stakes design work where you build user trust and reduce complexity within a global financial ecosystem, a core tenet of our mission to move the real world.

You will join a hands-on, international team in our Amsterdam tech center, responsible for the end-to-end Payments experience on both Earner and Consumer platforms . Navigating ambiguous technical and regulatory constraints is the norm here, offering depth for continuous growth and impact that directly influences millions of users daily .

What You'll Do

  • Design and ship secure, highly usable end-to-end payment and account experiences across all Uber apps (Rides, Eats, Freight, etc.) .
  • Translate complex platform requirements and regulatory constraints into simple, elegant design solutions that seamlessly integrate into the user journey .
  • Drive cross-functional alignment by acting as the design domain expert, patiently negotiating trade-offs between speed, user value, and technical capacity .
  • Define a coherent design vision and strategy for new payment features, translating ambiguous problem statements into clear execution plans .
  • Harness raw user data, including UX research insights and quantitative metrics, to validate hypotheses and relentlessly iterate on design improvements .
  • Elevate the standard for design quality across the entire Payments organization by implementing and advocating for our design language and systematic reusable components .

Basic qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of professional product design experience in high-growth, technically complex environments .
  • A portfolio demonstrating high-quality visual and interaction design work for consumer-facing mobile applications .
  • Expert proficiency (4+ years of hands-on experience) with modern design and prototyping tools, including Figma .
  • Proven experience applying a systematic approach to design, focusing on reusable components and defining architecture .

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience designing for financial products, payments, or other highly regulated industries, navigating the tension between compliance and user experience .
  • Demonstrated ability to craft product strategy and thrive in situations defined by high ambiguity and shifting technical priorities .
  • A track record of shipping measurable and complex design improvements that visibly reduce user friction for a global user base .
  • Experience collaborating directly with engineering and data science partners in rigorous experimentation frameworks (e.g., A/B testing) .
