The Consultant (EA) assists in the implementation and governance of the enterprise-wide architecture and processes. The primary purpose is to ensure the strategic application of change is effectively embedded across the organization, securing stakeholder buy-in at all levels. This role supports the analysis of compliance between business strategies, enterprise transformation activities, and technology directions, contributing to the development of strategies, policies, standards, practices, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The Consultant also supports the creation and review of the organization's systems capability strategy to align with and meet overall business strategic requirements.
Key Job Accountabilities
The Consultant (EA) will be responsible for the following core activities:
- Architecture Development: Contributes to the development of architectures in specific business, infrastructure, or functional areas, leveraging appropriate tools and standard methods.
- Architecture Evaluation & Trade-offs: Identifies and evaluates alternative architectures, assessing the trade-offs regarding cost, performance, and scalability.
- Technical Specification: Produces detailed specifications for cloud-based or on-premises components, tiers, and interfaces, ensuring they are ready for translation into detailed designs using selected services and products.
- Change Program Support: Supports change programs or projects by preparing technical plans and applying design principles that strictly comply with both enterprise and solution architecture standards, including security requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Participates actively in quality reviews of solution architecture components to ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
- Lessons Learned & Documentation: Contributes to formal reviews and evaluations upon project and program completion. Documents and socializes the lessons learned from the architecture development lifecycle.
- Innovation & Brainstorming: Makes useful and constructive contributions to technical brainstorming sessions and problem-solving initiatives.
- Research & Knowledge Acquisition: Acquires, under guidance, essential knowledge and understanding of the research field being studied relevant to Enterprise Architecture.
- Technology Awareness: Maintains an awareness of current and emerging information and communications technologies (ICT) and identifies potential opportunities for the business to benefit positively from adopting such technologies.
- Technical Advisory: Provides advice, both reactively and pro-actively, to staff engaged in activities where the technical specialism is applicable, extending to IT staff and related areas such as budgetary and financial planning, litigation, legislation, and health and safety.
