Data Analyst


Breakthrough Talent is supporting a leading data consultancy that works with many of the UK’s major banks, building societies and fintechs. They run large scale data pooling and benchmarking services which help financial organisations understand market shifts, customer behaviour and product performance.


The team processes huge volumes of retail finance data every month and delivers detailed market insight back to members. They are now looking for a Data Analyst to join the group responsible for reviewing, managing and publishing weekly and monthly data cycles.


This role suits someone who enjoys detailed analytical work, cares deeply about data accuracy and wants to work with large scale financial datasets.


The Role


You will review, process and publish large volumes of client data. You will manage data collection cycles, check data quality, analyse trends and ensure each member receives accurate outputs. You will work across SQL, Tableau based dashboards, and internal tools used by banks and financial institutions across the UK.


What You Will Do

  • Manage the full data cycle for large retail finance datasets growing by more than two hundred million rows per month
  • Collect, process and publish client data files on weekly and monthly schedules
  • Check data quality, identify anomalies and highlight unusual trends
  • Interrogate both the SQL Server back end and the Tableau or portal based front end
  • Update processing logs and keep the wider team informed on progress
  • Communicate with clients to resolve data issues and improve delivery standards over time
  • Support senior stakeholders on projects to enhance data checking and accuracy

Technical Skills

  • Able to write and understand SQL queries for data processing and analysis
  • Experience with SQL Server T SQL is beneficial
  • Experience with Tableau, QlikView or Power BI is useful but not essential
  • Understanding of relational databases or data warehouse concepts is a bonus
  • Interest in learning Python
