Key duties and responsibilities:
The work will include designing and developing the MDPR and related reporting artefacts that need to cater to varying levels of audiences – including Ministerial and the Australian public. This requires working closely with the senior executive team to understand policy requirements and then designing products to clearly articulate these, often at short notice and to meet the urgent timeframe to release by February 2026.
About the project:
Cabinet has agreed to publish the department's Major Digital Projects Report (MDPR) annually, with this report intended to increase transparency and accountability for digital projects and address the unacceptably high rates at which they fall short of delivering expected benefits for Australians. This commitment by Government followed sustained public and parliamentary interest in the performance of digital projects, including through the Joint Committee of Public Accounts and Audit reviews, Senate enquiries, audits and FOI requests.
Essential Criteria:
- Demonstrable experience designing, developing, and delivering high-quality products to communicate complex topics to various audiences, evidenced by a portfolio of prior work.
- Proven expert level skills in Adobe Creative Cloud (including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator), as well as the ability to work with standard business productivity software such as Word and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - assessed based on the written response as well as an interview (should the panel elect to conduct interviews).
- Proven ability to proactively contribute, add value, innovate and shape thinking across a range of creative projects.
