About the role

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead a project within a large state government Program Delivery Unit. You will oversee end-to-end project delivery, ensuring alignment with PRINCE2 governance, maintaining strong stakeholder engagement, and driving high-quality outcomes across scope, time, budget, and quality requirements.


Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage project activities, governance processes, and development of project artefacts in line with PRINCE2 frameworks.
  • Collaborate closely with advisors, project team members, and internal stakeholders to support successful delivery.
  • Work autonomously to produce high-quality outputs aligned with organisational standards.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, escalating where appropriate.
  • Track, monitor, and report on project progress, milestones, deliverables, and budget.
  • Support benefits realisation by defining measurable outcomes aligned with departmental objectives.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.


Highly desirable criteria

  • Proven experience delivering complex government or regulatory projects.
  • Strong understanding of PRINCE2 governance and public sector project frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-stream project environments with diverse stakeholder groups.


Desirable criteria

  • Experience working within transport, infrastructure, or safety-related environments.
  • Familiarity with Queensland Government delivery processes and standards.
  • Previous involvement in digital or technology-enabled policy projects.


Skills and experience

  • Extensive experience as a Senior Project Manager leading end-to-end project delivery.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Excellent risk management, reporting, and project governance skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with organisational processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Adaptability and confidence working in a hybrid or remote environment.
