A highly respected government department is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead critical elements of a major technology upgrade program that supports statewide critical operations. You will take full ownership of an ongoing upgrade project, managing release cycles, coordinating change requests, overseeing defect remediation, and ensuring timely delivery of technology enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver the platform upgrade, including planning, release coordination, defect remediation, and implementation readiness.
- Manage a backlog of change requests and negotiate timelines to meet critical end-of-financial-year deadlines.
- Coordinate and manage vendors.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to implement application and hardware upgrades.
- Support procurement activities transitioning into project work next year.
- Ensure compliance with governance, industrial relations, and unionised workplace requirements.
- Drive communication and planning across cross-functional teams in a professional, collaborative manner.
Key Requirements
- 5+ years experience in project management or technology delivery roles.
- Prior experience working with a government department
- Proven track record managing large-scale application upgrades and/or hardware implementations.
- Strong vendor management experience with systems integrators and international suppliers.
- Understanding of project delivery within government or emergency services environments.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet critical deadlines.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills.
- Experience working in unionised and industrially sensitive workplaces is highly desirable.
