About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior iOS Developer/Engineer to join our dynamic Apps team on a 12-month fixed-term contract or through an internal secondment. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in enhancing and maintaining our award-winning iOS applications, ensuring they continue to deliver a seamless, fast, and reliable user experience. Your responsibilities will include developing new features, improving existing functionalities, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to shape the future of our digital journalism platforms. You will have the opportunity to influence product decisions, contribute to technical innovations, and uphold high standards of code quality and performance.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in building and deploying iOS applications, with a strong portfolio of successful projects.
- Expertise in Swift programming language, with a focus on SwiftUI for new feature development.
- Familiarity with legacy codebases in UIKit and Objective-C is advantageous, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Solid understanding of mobile app architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
- Ability to make informed decisions regarding technology choices and implementation strategies.
- Strong commitment to code quality, testing, and continuous improvement.
- Passionate about technology, innovation, and solving complex problems creatively.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with experience working in a team-oriented environment.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and testing new features for our iOS applications, ensuring they meet high standards of quality and performance.
- Maintaining and enhancing existing functionalities to improve user experience and stability.
- Collaborating with designers, product managers, editorial teams, and other developers to deliver innovative solutions.
- Participating in code reviews, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Contributing to technical discussions and product decisions, advocating for scalable and sustainable solutions.
- Staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continually improve our apps and development processes.
- Engaging in regular hack days and innovation sessions to foster creativity and experimentation.
