For a growing project team in Ghent, we are looking for a Medior Java Developer who wants to contribute to the further development of one of our client’s core software products. You will join a technically strong team where you work closely with in-house specialists and where performance, stability and technical depth are key.

Role Description

As a Medior Java Developer, you will tackle complex technical challenges in a high-performance environment. You support the ongoing evolution of the product, contribute to new features, and help drive continuous optimization. You analyse system behaviour, identify improvements and work alongside experienced engineers to elevate the technical architecture.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize and maintain core components of the software.
• Analyse low-level system behaviour to identify performance bottlenecks.
• Work in a Linux-based environment to investigate CPU, memory, disk, and network issues.
• Support troubleshooting and improvements related to infrastructure and system stability.
• Optimize database performance (queries, indexing, throughput).
• Collaborate with senior engineers and contribute to technical proposals, implementations, and optimizations.

Your Profile

• At least 3 years of experience as a Software Engineer or Java Developer.
• Strong expertise in Java, including low-level aspects such as bytecode analysis, JVM tuning, and performance troubleshooting.
• Solid understanding of Linux system performance (CPU, memory, disk I/O, networking).
• Broad knowledge of IT infrastructure and low-level Linux tools.
• Experience with database optimization (query tuning, indexing strategies).
• Experience with Performance Optimization is a must.
• Comfortable working in complex, high-performance software environments.
• Structured, analytical, and strong in communication.
• Preferably fluent in Dutch, fluent English only is also acceptable.
