Saab Sensor Technology Center in Tampere is part of Business Area Surveillance. Saab’s Tampere facility develops innovative and small-scale electronic warfare systems to ensure the safety of people and societies. Our team develops user interface applications using web-based technologies.
Your role
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who enjoys taking ownership — not just coding backend features, but shaping the technical direction of our product. You’ll work across architecture, implementation, and technical decision-making, helping us build a modern, scalable system.

In this job, some of your tasks have a connection to defense secrecy. Therefore, a drug test and approved security clearance in accordance with the Finnish Security Clearance act 726/2014 is required for the selected applicant.

Your role

What you’ll do
- Design and implement solutions that strengthen our architecture and overall quality
- Develop features mainly on the backend (with some flexibility across the stack)
- Contribute to technical choices and guide the direction of the platform
- Take responsibility for areas that benefit from senior-level clarity and structure
To thrive in this role, you have deep technical expertise combined with good communication skills.
Following skills and experience are needed to succeed in the role:
- Several years of experience in planning and documenting application and system architecture
- Experience in designing event-based systems in environments with limited computing capacity
- Ability to design and manage integrations of disparate systems ensuring seamless dataflow and interoperability
- Understanding of CI/CD systems
- Experience with agile development methodologies and tools
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Fluency in English and Finnish
- Web technologies, especially TypeScript, Node.js and Vue.js
- Databases like SQLite
- Application interfaces REST, Websocket, OpenAPI, GRPC
- Desktop applications using Electron
- Map-based systems
