Job Description

Avaloq has recently established an R&D Laboratory with a mission toexplore, design and develop new coreless banking modules, shaping the future of banking technology. You will be surrounded by talented, forward-thinking individuals driven by a passion for building the next generation of banking systems.

Our approach emphasizes modular design, extreme scalability, and cost-efficiency across all stages of each module's lifecycle. The first coreless banking module centers on investment performance, with future modules covering core areas of the banking value chain, potentially including the main booking engine, securities administration and tax management.

We are looking for a skilled, entrepreneurialFunctional Architect (or Senior Backend Engineer) to join our missionand to drive innovation in coreless banking technology.

Your key tasks:

• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure modular, scalable, and cost-optimized solutions.
• Hands-on develop, test, and optimize backend services.
• Take ownership and responsibility for your area of expertise.
• Ensure code quality and performance through best practices in development and testing.
• Conduct code reviews and coach junior team members.
• For Functional Architect: Lead design and architecture for the coreless banking modules and collaborate closely with central architecture team.
  
  

Qualifications

• Broad banking knowledge with deep expertise in at least one area, such as Booking Engines, Investment Performance, Taxation, Trading, Corporate Actions, or similar.
• Familiarity with the functional requirements of such modules, for example handling of retro-active events.
• Strong hands-on skills in developing, testing, and optimizing banking functionality.
• Proficiency in various programming languages, databases, andtechnology stacks.
• Expertise in cloud technologies (e.g. AWS andAzure) is a strong plus.
• For Functional Architect: Proven communication skills to lead the team, drive development efforts, and monitor achievements.
