Together, weve fulfilled and delivered over 20 million orders (and counting!), making us the largest direct to consumer flower business in Europe.

Now home to a family of 3 beautiful brands, were driven by our vision to create the destination for making life a little more thoughtful and beautiful. And we won't stop at flowers and plants. Starting with the Bloom & Wild brand, we're expanding our gifting offering to other categories like cakes, candles and cocktails. This is all part of our ambition to build Europe's #1 direct to consumer gifting destination.

  • ?Technology at Bloom & Wild

Our Technology team of over 60 people sits right at the heart of our business. We build and maintain the solutions that power e-commerce, production and fulfilment, enabling our brands to delight our customers every day.

The Product Engineering team consists of five cross-functional squads who each own their own business and architectural domain, and are supported by our Platform, Domain Engineering, Data and IT teams.

Our platform uses technologies including Ruby and Rails and Python/ React, backed by PostgreSQL, Fargate/ECS on AWS, and Cloud Run on GCP. It exposes APIs that are used by our multi-brand Angular web app and our native iOS and Android mobile apps. Were also looking at developing new domain driven services & microservices where applicable.

Most of our team is based in the UK or The Netherlands and works in a flexible model, with choice in how often they travel to the office. Our squads meet in person at least once per quarter in order to maintain connections, collaborate on larger projects and have fun together. We also welcome applications from candidates based within roughly two hours of the UK time zone, covering many European countries. This helps us stay aligned as a team while supporting flexible, remote-friendly ways of working.

    • Youll play an active role in delivering the roadmap for the Discovery & Gift Building squad and be a key part of our Engineering team.
    • Collaborating with other engineers, designers, product managers, and stakeholders as you work together to scope out what to build and how.
    • Owning feature development from ideation through to production release and ongoing maintenance, using an iterative approach to validate ideas and learn

    • Know enough JavaScript to be dangerous: You have a good handle on modern JavaScript (ES6+) and the DOM. If you have experience with a framework like Angular, React, or Vue, thats a bonus, but strong core skills are what we value most.
    • Are curious about the Back End: While you might lean towards the Front End, you are interested in learning how our platform works (Ruby on Rails and Python) and how to build the APIs that power our UI.
    • Have a quality mindset and a passion for writing clean, secure code while also keeping an eye for opportunities for improvements.
    • It would be great if you also have...
    • Exposure to Angular or Ruby on Rails through personal projects, bootcamps, or previous internships.
    • An understanding of the difference between synchronous and asynchronous code (Promises/Observables).
    • Experience using the command line/terminal to run your tools.
    • Experience using an AI coding assistant.
