Title: Business Intelligence Analyst - Intermediate

Location: 9820 - 106 ST NW. Alberta (Onsite)

Type: Contract

Duration: 12+ month with possibility of extensions

Description:

Business Intelligence in Category Management supports evidence-based decision-making by transforming procurement and contract data into actionable insights. The role analyzes spend, supplier, and market information to identify and enhance performance reporting, ensuring the unit has reliable, timely, and meaningful data intelligence.


Contribute as part of a team, responsible for delivering business intelligence capabilities to support internal and external department stakeholders’ information needs.


• Deliver work products based on various sets of data, including (but not limited to) procurement, contracts, finance and market data.

• Work with a selection of technology products (such as SAP, Power BI, Alteryx) that must address the ever-changing

technology and increasing appetite for information from internal and external department stakeholders.

• Must be able to work effectively with a team made up of in-house staff and contract resources.

• Analyze data and prepare information results.

• Gather and document requirements.

• Design and construct information products.

• Capture business and technical metadata for information products.

• Gather requirements for control processes, including schedule management, status reporting, issues, risk, and change management at the program level.

• Produce deliverables within specified quality standards and timeline.

• Define and perform quality assurance on business intelligence deliverables.

• Respond to ad-hoc information inquiries.

• Perform data analysis, data quality audits/reviews, statistical analysis and data mining.

• Escalate issues and risks, as appropriate.

• Work within a multi-vendor/staff environment.


Must Have:

Education

Post-secondary degree. diploma or certificate in Computer Science or a related field of study.


Technical Skills

Required Experience

  • Experience with articulating and translating technical language for non-technical customers both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience the data concepts such as: Extract Transform Load (ETL). Operational Data Store (ODS). Online Transaction Processing (OLTP). etc.
  • Experience With presenting data in queries. dashboards and reports in a way that is easy to understand.


Work Experience

  • Direct hands-on experience in designing. developing. and optimizing advanced Power Bl solutions that transform regulated and complex datasets into actionable insights for policy. operations and executive reporting
  • Experience in creating and implementing business intelligence requirements.
  • Experience with dimensional modeling techniques.
  • Experience working in a data warehouse/business intelligence or relevant data environment in either a development or support role.

Technical Skills

  • Ability to think critically to select the most appropriate input data, modeling method, indicated variables. and techniques.


Required Experience

Description

  • Experience using Microsoft SQL.
  • Experience with Power BI, PowerView, Microsoft SQL Reporting, and Analytical Services.
  • Experience with relational database modeling techniques.
