Industry: HVAC, Construction, and Essential Services

Company Type: Private Equity–Backed Platform Company

Compensation: Competitive Base Salary + Annual Bonus + Meaningful Equity Participation

Overview

A private equity–backed HVAC, services, and construction platform company based in the DFW metroplex is seeking an experienced Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the next phase of growth and value creation.

The company is executing a multi-year growth strategy focused on disciplined M&A, organic expansion, margin improvement, and operational standardization across a growing portfolio of operating companies. The incoming CEO will serve as the senior operating executive, responsible for scaling the platform, strengthening performance, and building a durable, institutional-quality organization.

The private equity sponsor is targeting a future liquidity event, and this role requires a hands-on, execution-oriented leader with deep experience scaling PE-backed, field-based service businesses through operational excellence and acquisition-driven growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Value Creation

  • Serve as the senior operating executive, accountable for overall performance, growth strategy, and execution of the value-creation plan.
  • Partner closely with the PE sponsor and Board to define strategic priorities, capital allocation, and acquisition cadence.
  • Lead annual operating plans, long-range forecasts, and performance reviews tied to EBITDA growth and margin expansion.

M&A Execution & Integration

  • Play a leadership role in sourcing, diligence, acquisition, and integration of platform and add-on acquisitions.
  • Oversee post-acquisition integration, ensuring consistent operating standards, cultural alignment, and execution of structured integration plans.
  • Build a repeatable M&A and integration playbook to support ongoing acquisition activity.

Operational Excellence & Scalability

  • Drive standardization and optimization across field operations, service delivery, project execution, and back-office functions.
  • Improve labor productivity, pricing discipline, job costing, backlog management, and gross margin performance.
  • Implement and scale core systems (field service management, ERP, dispatch, reporting) to support multi-location growth.
  • Establish KPIs and operating cadence across safety, utilization, revenue growth, margin, and cash flow.

Leadership & Organization Building

  • Build and lead a high-performing executive team, including operations, finance, sales, and HR leadership.
  • Develop leadership bench strength at both the platform and operating company levels.
  • Foster a performance-driven culture focused on accountability, safety, customer service, and continuous improvement.

Exit Readiness

  • Prepare the organization for a successful private equity exit, including leadership depth, process institutionalization, reporting rigor, and scalable infrastructure.
  • Partner with advisors on exit preparation, positioning, and diligence readiness.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a CEO, President, or COO of a PE-backed or scaled multi-location HVAC, construction, home services, or field-based services business.
  • Demonstrated success leading organizations through acquisitions and integrations.
  • Track record of driving EBITDA growth through both organic initiatives and M&A.
  • Strong understanding of field operations, labor economics, pricing strategy, job costing, and margin drivers.
  • Experience working directly with private equity sponsors and Boards.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to lead complex organizations through change.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Compensation

  • Competitive base salary
  • Annual performance-based bonus
  • Meaningful equity participation aligned with value creation and exit outcomes
