This project involves developing a compact, atmospheric horror game designed for a self-service booth experience. The game will run on a Windows PC connected to a TV, with players standing and interacting via just three buttons: forward, turn left, and turn right. The session is intended to last around 20 minutes, beginning with a tutorial screen and starting only when a designated button is pressed. The core gameplay centers on exploration and finding an exit, with a strong emphasis on tension, pacing, and immersive audio cues such as whispers and environmental sounds. A unique mechanic will monitor player microphone input, penalizing excessive noise with tunable sensitivity. At the end of each session, the game should fade to black and display a message before returning to the intro screen or exiting, depending on stability. This initial project may lead to further commissions to expand and refine the concept.

  • Design and develop a horror game optimized for a booth setup with minimal controls (forward, turn left, turn right)
  • Implement a single-session experience with a clear tutorial and start trigger
  • Create an immersive, tense atmosphere using audio cues and environmental design
  • Develop a sound detection system that monitors player microphone input and applies penalties for excessive noise
  • Ensure smooth session transitions, including fade-out and return to intro or exit
  • Optimize the game for stability and ease of use in a public booth environment
  • Collaborate on future enhancements and expansions based on project success

  • Proficiency in game development for Windows PC platforms
  • Experience with Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar game engines

  • Familiarity with session management and UI/UX for public installations
  • Creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to deliver a polished, stable product within project constraints
