Energy Market Analyst - Renewables
About the Role
We are seeking a highly analytical and ambitious Market Analyst to join a growing operations team in the renewable energy sector. This role offers unique exposure to the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM) and the operations of utility-scale renewable generation and battery storage assets.
You will play a key role in monitoring market conditions, supporting operational decision-making, and providing insights to clients on asset performance. The position begins as an Operations Assistant with structured training and progression opportunities toward an Operations Controller role.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor energy market systems and automated bidding software.
- Assist with re-bidding in the energy market under defined guidelines and monitor dispatch outcomes.
- Provide clients with timely information and advice on market conditions and asset performance.
- Support the operations team in:
- Communicating with AEMO, Network Service Providers (NSPs), and clients during major market events.
What You’ll Bring:
- Strong modelling skills with proficiency in Python or R or SQL or PowerBI
- Background in energy trading, spot trading, or electricity generation operations (preferred but not essential).
- Understanding of the NEM and technical features such as constraints and FCAS.
- Experience with swap caps, hedging instruments, and wholesale pricing frameworks
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Tertiary qualifications in Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or related disciplines
