Who we are looking for


We are seeking a highly motivated Master’s student in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field to join our team as an R&D Intern. This role is focused on the research and development of a novel 3D Hip Reconstruction Algorithm.


In this role, you will actively contribute to the design, prototyping, and evaluation of algorithmic solutions that generate 3D models from 2D X-ray images. Your work will bridge the gap between theoretical research and product application, spanning literature review, algorithm implementation, data analysis, and performance benchmarking.


This internship is ideal for candidates with a strong academic foundation in Computer Vision and Deep Learning who are eager to apply their skills to real-world medical problems.


Roles and Responsibilities


  • Algorithm Development: Design, implement, and prototype 3D reconstruction algorithms (specifically for hip anatomy) using X-ray imaging data.
  • Research & Innovation: Conduct literature reviews to identify state-of-the-art methods in 2D-to-3D reconstruction and medical image analysis.
  • Performance Validation: Systematically benchmark model performance against ground-truth data, analyzing accuracy, robustness, and failure cases.
  • Data Management: Support the curation and preprocessing of medical datasets (real and synthetic) required for model training and testing.
  • Integration: Collaborate with the engineering team to integrate your prototypes into existing software pipelines and frameworks.
  • Documentation: Prepare technical documentation of your experiments and results to support future product integration and potential publications.
  • Collaboration: Participate in technical meetings and provide input on problem-solving discussions within our cross-functional team.


Requirements


  • Education: Currently enrolled Master’s student in Computer Science, Informatics, Biomedical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Programming: Strong proficiency in Python 
  • AI & DL Foundations: Solid theoretical understanding and practical experience with Deep Learning concepts and frameworks (specifically PyTorch or TensorFlow).
  • Computer Vision Fundamentals: Fundamental knowledge of computer vision concepts, specifically in 3D geometry, reconstruction techniques, or object detection.
  • Specific Libraries: Hands-on experience with computer vision libraries (e.g., OpenCV, Open3D).
  • Language: Professional proficiency in English


Preferred Qualifications (Plus)


  • Medical Domain: Prior experience with medical image analysis (e.g., X-ray processing) or medical datasets.
  • Specific Libraries: Hands-on experience with medical imaging libraries (e.g., MONAI, ITK, VTK, Slicer3D)
  • Research Experience: Previous academic projects or internships involving 3D reconstruction or synthetic data generation.
