The Senior Software Engineer in the IP SDN & Tooling team develops, maintains, improves, and supports key systems and platforms. These systems underpin Optus Network Planning, Design, Build, and Operations, and support business units with data for billing, reconciliation, and regulatory compliance. This role covers both in-house and vendor systems. It focuses on software development lifecycle, data collection, analytics, presentation, and customised reporting to help make effective business decisions for network platform growth and troubleshooting.
What You’ll Do
- Build and develop high-performance applications to support operations, planning, and business teams, with a focus on Golang and Python-based solutions.
- Build interface contracts, APIs, and related documentation for internal IT/Network and external vendor systems.
- Develop and implement software in test and production environments.
- Conduct code testing and reporting.
- Produce project and system documentation.
- Communicate and liaise effectively with peers, other teams, and management, encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.
- Established track record of building and launching software within testing and production contexts.
- Advanced proficiency in Golang and Python for scripting and application development in a Linux environment.
- Strong knowledge of IP and Internet Protocols relevant to team platforms.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycles (Waterfall, Agile, SCRUM).
- Experience working in project teams and collaborating effectively within teams.
- Clear written and spoken English communication skills.
