Senior Network Engineer (Contract) – Newcastle (On-site)
6–12 month contract | On-site, Newcastle | Start mid-January (interviews happening now)
We’re seeking a Senior Network Engineer for a business-critical, enterprise environment in Newcastle. This is a dedicated role supporting a major project currently underway, with a strong focus on network infrastructure installation, monitoring, operational support, and maintenance to ensure stability, performance, and uptime.
What you’ll be doing
- Own day-to-day delivery of the organisation’s ICT network installation, monitoring and maintenance
- Provide senior-level support across enterprise network infrastructure (business critical)
- Monitor network performance and availability, identify risks early, and drive resolution
- Troubleshoot complex incidents and outages across WAN and core networks
- Partner with internal stakeholders and project teams to support the broader program of work
- Maintain network documentation, standards, and operational processes
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years’ experience in a senior network engineering role in an enterprise environment
- Strong hands-on capability with Cisco technologies
- Solid experience with WAN networks and operational support in critical environments
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and technologies, including switching and routing protocols
- Demonstrated experience with network monitoring and proactive problem management
- Clear communication style and ability to operate calmly under pressure
- ITIL knowledge/experience (nice to have, not essential)
