About Us:

We are looking for a strong iOS Tech Lead to help us shape and evolve our extensive product suite of mobile applications, mainly targeting iPadOS. As the iOS Tech Lead, you will be the primary technical authority for mobile development at AvioBook. You ensure high quality, scalable and maintainable mobile applications by providing technical guidance, driving a technical roadmap and influencing our technical strategy.

In this role you’ll work closely with engineers and other Tech Leads to create cross-technology synergies, foster knowledge sharing and evolve mobile development practices in line with our architectural vision.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Roadmap Management:

• You will shape and champion the technical roadmap for our mobile applications, driven by data wherever possible, ensuring alignment with product and business goals. This includes actively driving high-impact technical initiatives, providing realistic estimations, defining non-functional requirements, and being ultimately responsible for maintaining and prioritizing the technical debt, framework, and middleware upgrade backlog for the entire mobile suite.

Technical Mentorship, Guidance & Direction:

• You’ll provide expert technical mentorship, guidance, and clear direction to mobile developers, fostering their growth and ensuring alignment with best practices and architectural principles. Together with the developers you will define and decide on concrete and practical development guidelines and practices. These support the qualitative implementation and long-term maintainability of our software. You will also support the Team Managers with the creation of the necessary training plans and growth opportunities for mobile developers.

Development Platform:

• You’ll contribute to the evolution and optimization of our development platform, which encompasses core tools, shared libraries and required infrastructure to enhance developer productivity and efficiency.

Architecture:

• As a member of the Architecture Review Board, you will contribute to the overall design and guidelines of the AvioBook architecture, ensuring alignment with our architectural vision. This involves reviewing solution designs, and promoting scalable and maintainable solutions.

Engineering Support:

• You will provide support to developers during their day-to-day work, acting as an internal point of contact for difficult challenges related to mobile development where other developers can’t assist. This involves answering complex technical questions, helping others understand the broader technical context, and engaging in pair programming or deep dives to move forward and transfer knowledge effectively.

Hiring:

• You’ll support the hiring process for mobile engineering talent by conducting thorough technical interviews with candidates, helping to identify top mobile engineering talent for AvioBook.

What You Bring:

• Extensive experience in developing large, complex, offline-first mobile applications, with a strong emphasis on native iPadOS development using Swift. Experience with multi-platform mobile applications using React Native is a plus.
• Proven track record as a Tech Lead, being able to drive technical initiative across multiple development teams and identify continuous improvement opportunities supported by data.
• Exceptional ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and communicate technical topics clearly and effectively.
