Senior Automation Testing Engineer
Zevoy Aktiebolag | Erottaja, Helsinki, Finland | Hybrid (requires 3 days on-site in central Helsinki) | Full-time I Reports to: CPO
The Company & Role
Zevoy is a fast-growing fintech focused on expense management, with rapid growth expanding across Europe. To ensure a reliable, bug-free product, we are looking for the right person to elevate our testing capabilities.
We are seeking a Senior Automation Testing Engineer to design, build, and maintain our automated testing framework. You will move us past manual, reactive QA toward a proactive, scalable testing infrastructure that supports our rapid deployment cycle.
This role directly addresses current bottlenecks by reducing the volume of incoming bug tickets, minimizing technical debt, and freeing up our development team to focus on delivering new features faster.
Why This Role Matters
You are not just writing tests; you are laying the foundation for our next phase of growth. Your expertise will:
- Accelerate Delivery: By establishing reliable, automated regression testing, you will shrink deployment cycles and allow us to release new features and integrations faster.
- Reduce Technical Debt: Proactive testing ensures that new features are built correctly from the start, preventing future instability and minimizing the load on the development team for bug fixing.
- Empower the Team: Your work will enable our current developers (Android/iOS, Senior Fullstack, Frontend) to maximize their time on value-adding development, rather than debugging or manual QA checks.
- Bridge the Gap from start to end: Use your understanding of quality and the tech stack to help translate business requirements into clear, executable technical specifications—addressing bottlenecks in the start of our development process.
Your Day-to-Day Focus
- Automation Strategy: Define the strategy and own the implementation of our end-to-end (E2E) automation framework across our web, mobile, and backend services.
- Technical Specification Support: Collaborate closely with the CPO and Product Owner to analyze business requirements and create clear, high-quality technical specifications for development tasks (e.g., epic breakdown, acceptance criteria, data flow diagrams).
- Infrastructure & Test Development: Select, implement, and maintain tooling for our CI/CD pipeline. Write, execute, and maintain automated tests (functional, regression, performance) for our React frontends, mobile apps, and our Go/GraphQL APIs.
- Collaboration & Culture: Work with the development team and the existing QA Engineer to implement testing best practices, shift left on quality, and embed automation into our daily development process.
Our Tech Environment
You will be working within a modern, highly observable stack that facilitates automation:
- Technologies: React, Typescript, Apollo client, Go, GraphQL, Serverless Infrastructure, running on AWS.
- Practices: Daily deployments, modern CI/CD pipeline, and continuous integration.
Our tech team consists of 10 engineers plus product leadership. You will be instrumental in scaling our quality approach.
Essential Qualities to Succeed
We are looking for a hybrid profile who excels in both quality assurance and technical clarity:
- Senior Automation Experience (5+ years): Proven experience building automated testing frameworks from the ground up, not just maintaining existing ones.
- Technical Proficiency & Specification: Strong programming skills (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go) and the proven ability to translate complex needs into clear technical documentation/specs.
- Tooling Mastery: Expertise with industry-standard E2E testing tools (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, Selenium) and mobile testing frameworks.
- DevOps Mindset: Experience integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).
- Proactive Ownership: You are self-driven and take full accountability for improving quality metrics and testing coverage across the entire platform.
- Language: Excellent level of spoken and written English (our working language).
Bonus Points
- Prior experience automating tests for systems built on Go or GraphQL.
- Direct experience as a Product Owner or Technical Business Analyst in a tech company.
- Experience in the fintech or payments domain.
- Finnish language skills (not a must)
What We Offer You
- Defining Impact: The opportunity to build the entire automation infrastructure for a fast-growing company.
- Stability & Professionalism: A focused environment where technical excellence is valued.
- A competitive salary based on experience.
- An informal, professional, and international work environment with teammates from all over the world.
- A hybrid setup with three office days per week at our new, centrally located offices in Helsinki (Erottaja).
