📍 Dublin 2 | 24-Month Contract | Office-Based (with Off-Site Work)
Capaciteam is working with a client based in Dublin 2 to recruit an experienced Level 2 Network Engineer to join their ICT Support & Infrastructure team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a large, complex network environment, supporting critical infrastructure across multiple locations in Ireland.
The RoleAs a Network Engineer (L2), you will be responsible for the support, maintenance, and implementation of LAN, WAN, and WLAN environments, working closely with senior engineers and key internal stakeholders.
The network spans multiple sites and service providers, using a range of modern technologies including SD-WAN, firewalls, switching, and wireless solutions.
Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork Support & Operations- Monitor and maintain LAN, WAN, and WLAN infrastructure
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues to minimise downtime
- Respond to Level 2 and priority helpdesk tickets
- Assist with deployment of LAN, WLAN, NAC, and SD-WAN solutions
- Support Level 3/4 engineers with configuration and installation of network hardware and software
- Participate in planned maintenance and change management activities
- Plan, coordinate, and track assigned network tasks
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation (network diagrams, configurations, procedures)
- Update asset and inventory management systems
- Install, inspect, and maintain network cabling
- Rack, stack, and organise network equipment with proper cable management
- Office-based role in Dublin 2
- Some off-site work required at other locations as needed
- 37.5-hour working week
- Occasional out-of-hours work for maintenance or upgrades
- Ability to lift and move network equipment when required
- 2+ years’ experience supporting and managing network environments
- Full driving licence
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- LAN/WAN technologies
- Wireless networks
- SD-WAN (Fortinet or similar)
Working knowledge of:
- TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
- Layer 2 Switching & Layer 3 Routing
- OSPF and BGP
- OSI Model
- Network Access Control (NAC)
- Experience with Fortinet, Aruba (ClearPass, Controllers, AirWave) or equivalent technologies
- Experience with Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, or HP switching
- Familiarity with VPN technologies and cloud-based collaboration tools
- Strong troubleshooting skills using tools such as Wireshark, NetFlow/SFlow, or similar
- Experience working with multiple third-party WAN providers
- Comfortable working independently during incidents or outages
- Strong communication, organisational, and documentation skills
- CCNA or similar certification
- Experience working in data centres or computer rooms (racks, cabling, UPS, cooling, etc.)
- Work in a large-scale, multi-site network environment
- Hands-on role with modern networking technologies
