General Description

Were seeking a highly motivated Cybersecurity Defense Analyst to help fortify the digital resilience of a global organization. In this hybrid role based in The Hague, youll take on the challenge of protecting critical assets by detecting, analyzing, and mitigating cyber threats. This role is ideal for someone who combines defensive expertise with an attackers mindsetsomeone who understands how threats operate and uses that knowledge to enhance defense strategies. Youll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to lead advanced security operations, develop detection capabilities, and proactively hunt for threats within complex environments.

Requirements for This Role

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in cybersecurity operations or incident response
  • Proven track record in threat identification, network traffic analysis, and rapid incident mitigation
  • Proficiency with tools used in modern cybersecurity environments (e.g., SIEM, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint monitoring)
  • Scripting experience using languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash
  • Familiarity with open-source diagnostic and assessment tools such as Nmap, Wireshark, and Kali Linux
  • Solid understanding of established security frameworks and models (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, and related methodologies)
  • Comfortable using general productivity and communication software for remote collaboration
  • Legal authorization to work within the EU or UK
  • Bachelors degree in cybersecurity, information technology, or a related field

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills in high-pressure environments
  • Ability to independently manage tasks and priorities within fast-paced, distributed teams
  • Attention to detail, especially in the documentation and communication of security findings
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaborative spirit with the flexibility to coordinate across time zones and cultures

Preferences

  • Prior experience in globally distributed security teams
  • Background in conducting proactive threat hunts or designing detection content
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CISSP, GCFA, CEH, or other similar industry-recognized credentials)
  • Demonstrated commitment to staying current with evolving cybersecurity tactics, tools, and procedures
