We are a dynamic and fast-growing IT company specialising in cutting-edge technology solutions for businesses of all sizes. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented, and motivated Engineer, OT Cybersecurity to join our team.
Role Summary
Engineer, OT Cybersecurity provides technical support, administration, and maintenance necessary for OT Cybersecurity Services for Company’s Operational Technology (OT) and OT-IT integration.
Engineer, OT cybersecurity will play a key role operating and maintaining cybersecurity infrastructure and OT Cybersecurity controls based on the approved company’s OT Cybersecurity Policies, Standards, processes, procedures and guidelines.
The objective is to ensure the availability, integrity, and secure operations of the company’s Operation Technology/Industrial Automation &Control Systems and mission systems from emerging cybersecurity threats by focusing on three job-specific accountabilities:
Operate & Maintain (OM)
- Ensure effective performance and availability of OT/ICS cybersecurity systems.
- Manage assets/inventory of cybersecurity resources and infrastructure.
- Administer and configure defence tools (antivirus, whitelisting, firewalls, IDS/IPS, Data Diodes, secure file transfer, monitoring).
- Control accounts, access rights, and permissions.
- Maintain and apply baseline security configurations in line with policies.
- Patch vulnerabilities, update security content, and monitor system health/performance.
- Conduct periodic reviews (configuration, access, effectiveness testing).
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents, connectivity issues, and service problems per SLA.
- Document implementations, procedures, and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with custodians to sustain solutions and recommend improvements.
Protect & Defend (PR)
- Identify, analyse, and mitigate threats to OT systems/networks.
- Use defence tools (IDS, SIEM, firewalls, traffic logs) to detect/report events.
- Implement security measures to resolve vulnerabilities and ensure resilience.
- Analyse network topologies and data flows across OT/ICS systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve incidents and ensure compliance.
- Collect/monitor security data from OT systems for ongoing threat detection.
- Track external threat intelligence sources to stay current on risks.
- Apply signatures/IOCs to defence tools in response to new threats.
Securely Provision (SP)
- Define cybersecurity requirements across OT/ICS project lifecycles (DGS, FEED, FDS, DDS, FAT, SAT, SIT).
- Ensure stakeholder security needs are addressed in architecture and design.
- Design and implement controls to ensure safety, availability, confidentiality, and integrity.
- Act as technical lead for implementing and assessing OT cybersecurity solutions.
- Review technical specifications and technology selections for compatibility with ecosystem and roadmap.
Other Duties & Leadership
- Act as technical advisor on OT/ICS cybersecurity for HSE, risk, emergency response, and operations teams.
- Contribute to research and evaluation of emerging technologies, products, and third‑party services.
- Develop and update OT cybersecurity documentation (policies, standards, baselines, procedures).
- Support risk assessments, gap analyses, audits, and facilitate incident response with cybersecurity teams.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers to build future talent.
Supervision:
- Plan, supervise, and coordinate activities to meet functional objectives.
- Train and develop staff to enhance skills and deliver business goals.
Budgets & Compliance:
- Provide input for budget preparation and assist in implementation.
- Monitor variances to ensure performance and cost control.
- Implement approved OT cybersecurity policies, processes, and standards in line with company and international regulations.
Performance & Innovation:
- Contribute to achieving departmental performance objectives.
- Design and implement tools to improve efficiency and quality.
- Drive process improvements aligned with industry best practices.
HSE & Sustainability:
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, sustainability guidelines, and international standards.
Reporting:
- Submit daily site reports and weekly time sheets.
- Document preventive maintenance activities in SAP (monthly/quarterly).
- Set annual objectives with managers and provide progress updates.
Communication & Working Relationships:
Internal
- Regular interaction with Field’s Maintenance (I-C) teams for day-to-day operations.
- Regular interaction with Technical Support/Maintenance teams handling OT/ICS security maintenance and upgrade.
- Regular communication with Central engineering and Project management teams handling OT/ICS security-related projects for green and brown fields
- On-needed basis communication with OT/IT integrated applications custodians.

- Frequent contact with automation vendors, system integrators, cybersecurity solutions providers/suppliers and contractors’ professional & staff for exchange of information, technical clarifications and resolving problems.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (IT), Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field
Experience, Knowledge& Skills:
Experience:
- 5–7 years in IT Security, including 3+ years in OT/ICS systems security administration and engineering with strong technical and business expertise across hardware, software, and security solutions.
- Equivalent background in OT process automation within the Oil & Gas sector, with 3+ years in operating, maintaining, or engineering industrial systems and OT/ICS security.
- Exposure to industrial operations and production technologies, including ICS, SCADA/DCS (Yokogawa), and related cybersecurity in the energy sector.
- Ability to troubleshoot industrial automation and communication systems.
Knowledge:
- Risk management processes (assessment and mitigation).
- Service management standards (ITIL).
- Networking concepts, protocols, and security methodologies.
- Network security architecture (defense-in-depth, DMZ, segmentation).
- OT systems (DCS, SCADA, PLC, instruments).
- Industrial network topologies, redundancy protocols, and wireless technologies (FTE, ISA100, Wireless HART).
- Industrial application protocols & security measures (OPC, Modbus, PROFINet, Vnet/IP, Ethernet/IP, DNP3, fieldbus).
- System administration and hardening (network, OS, virtualisation).
- Cybersecurity attack types and stages targeting OT/ICS.
Skills:
- Security control assessment (IEC62443, CIS CSC, NIST SP 800-53).
- Network protection configuration (firewalls, IDS, data diodes).
- Software protection tools (host firewalls, antivirus, whitelisting).
- Maintenance of OT/ICS cybersecurity systems and infrastructure.
- Performance and capacity problem identification for systems/servers
Preferred Qualifications:
Mandatory professional certification:
- Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP)
- ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Fundamentals Specialist
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Cisco Certified Specialist – Cybersecurity Core
Holding the following certifications would be plus:
- Vendor Cyber Security Professional Certifications such as: CISSP, GCWN,GCIA, GDSA.
- IT certifications in ITIL/ITSM, CCNA R&S, Virtualisation Computing & Storage.
- OT certifications from Automation Vendors technologies in DCS, SCADA, PLC Programming, and Instrumentation.
Technical Specific Competencies:
Ability to Install, configure, update, upgrade and troubleshoot CyberSecurity technologies:
- Data Diode / Uni-Directional Network Solutions: Waterfall Security
- Juniper SRX Firewalls
- FortiGate Firewalls
- Trellix: Endpoint Security (ENS), Application and Change Control,ePolicy Orchestrator
- Patching: Windows WSUS Patch Deployment
Honeywell and/or Siemens DCS, Honeywell SCADA, Industrial Control System sand Network.
