Carrier Mobility Innovation

Tata Communications is seeking a seasoned Digital Product

Manager to join its Innovation & Transformation Team. This role will be

pivotal in shaping next-generation telecom products, driving AI-led automation,

and implementing operational efficiency programs to unlock new monetization

opportunities.

  • Experience
  • 4-10 years in Product Management within Telecom/CPaaS/Roaming/Carrier/Messaging/VoIP domains.
  • Experience working with MNOs, MVNOs, carriers, aggregators, or IPX providers is a strong advantage
  • Core Responsibilities

Digital Transformation & AI-Driven

Process Automation -
Drive digital transformation by identifying

manual workflows and converting them into Python or AI-driven automations, applying

BI + ML integration for advanced Analytics and decision support. Build internal

AI literacy, enable self-service dashboards and automated tools to modernize

legacy processes into digital-first workflows.

Market & Problems - Conduct

deep market research on global Voice, A2P, Roaming/IPX trends, pricing, and

regulations to Identify monetization gaps & leakages. Understand operator’s

pain points and translate them into validated product problems.

Business & Strategy - Build

product vision and multi-year strategy for Voice/SMS/Mobility lines. Define

business cases, pricing models and ROI justification. Support strategic

initiatives such as blockchain-based clearing, digital onboarding, and

API-first models.

Roadmap & Prioritization

  • Maintain

an outcome-based roadmap aligned with market demand and internal transformation

priorities. Drive monthly/quarterly planning with engineering, finance,

commercial, operations, and networks.

Product Requirements - Create

BRDs/PRDs, user stories and workflow diagrams working with various teams.

Execution & Delivery - Drive

execution with engineering, QA, networks, operations and integrations (VoIP,

A2P, IPX, Diameter/SCCP). Manage end-to-end GTM with sales, carrier relations,

and product marketing.

Performance &

Optimization -
Improve profitability through automation, cost

optimization, and process modernization. Drive continuous improvement in

delivery timelines, product performance, and customer experience.

Cross-team Collaboration

& Leadership -
Act as the central bridge between Sales,

Tech, Networks, Finance, Sales, and Carrier Relations. Lead project execution,

resolving blockers, and ensuring timely delivery across teams.

  • Required Skills
  • Demonstrated strength in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration, with proven ability to drive multi-team projects while producing clear BRDs, PRDs, financial models, and customer workflows
  • Data-driven mindset with analytical problem-solving capability and experience on tools such as MS Teams and SharePoint, combined with strong proficiency in BI tools for KPI dashboards and advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for analysis, modelling, and storytelling
  • Possesses deep understanding of VoIP/SIP, A2P SMS, and Roaming/IPX/GRX/SCCP ecosystems, alongside knowledge of telecom billing, routing, settlements, fraud, TAP/NRTRDE, IOT models, and familiarity with CPaaS, API monetization, operator onboarding workflows, backed by experience in telecom innovation and transformation teams.
  • Knowledge of Network APIs (CAMARA/Open Gateway) and understanding of API monetization frameworks for telecom operators.
  • Automation skills using Python for data processing, workflow automation, and KPI extraction.
  • Hands-on experience with Gen AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, LLM-based workflow builders)
  • Expertise in preparing executive decks with excellent presentation skills for communicating with leadership and external operators.
  • Strong curiosity mindset with a passion for exploring emerging technologies and market trends.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and adapting to new tools, frameworks, and methodologies.
  • Comfortable with rapid experimentation and willing to fail fast in the interest of learning and innovation

    • SIP/VoIP Tools: Wireshark, SIPp, SBC dashboards
    • Messaging: SMSC/SMPP tools
    • Roaming: TAP/NRTRDE processors, DCH/FCH systems, Diameter/SCCP
    • Cloud: AWS/Azure, Grafana, Kibana
    • Product Tools: Jira, Confluence, Miro, Figma
    • Data Tools: Power BI, SQL, Python (optional)
    • API Tools: Postman, Kong/Gateway tools
  • Preferred Qualification
Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electronics, or related field.
  • MBA or equivalent in Product Management / Strategy is a strong plus

Experience

  • 4-10 years in Product Management within Telecom/CPaaS/Roaming/Carrier/Messaging/VoIP domains
  • Proven track record of digital transformation initiatives, AI-driven automation, and cross-functional leadership

Certifications (Preferred)

  • PMP / Agile / Scrum certifications
  • AI/ML or Data Analytics certifications (e.g., Microsoft AI Fundamentals, AWS AI Practitioner)

Technical Proficiency

  • Hands-on with Python, Power BI, and API tools
  • Familiarity with VoIP/SIP, A2P SMS, Roaming/IPX ecosystems, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure)
