Job Summary:
The AML Officer will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of the company's compliance program, with a strong focus on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) regulations, in accordance with Austrian law and relevant EU directives, including MiCAR. The role holder will act as the primary point of contact with the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) and ensure the company's operations adhere to the highest standards of regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive AML/CTF program that complies with the Financial Market Anti-Money Laundering Act (FM-GwG), MiCAR, and other applicable regulations. Develop, update, and maintain AML/CTF policies, procedures, and internal controls, including Know Your Customer (KYC), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) measures.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and evaluate the company's exposure to money laundering and terrorist financing risks. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and controls.
- Establish and maintain systems for monitoring transactions for suspicious activity.
- Investigate and report suspicious transactions to the FMA in a timely and accurate manner.
- Act as the primary point of contact with the FMA and other relevant regulatory authorities.
- Develop and deliver AML/CTF training programs for employees at all levels.
- Promote a culture of compliance within the organization.
- Ensure compliance with GDPR and other data protection laws in the context of AML/CTF obligations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in law, finance, business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a compliance role within the financial services industry, preferably with experience in the crypto asset sector.
- In-depth knowledge of Austrian AML/CTF laws and regulations, including the FM-GwG, and EU directives, including MiCAR.
- Strong understanding of KYC/CDD principles and best practices.
- Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing AML/CTF programs.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with regulators, senior management, and employees.
- Fluency in German and English is required.
- Professional certifications such as CAMS, or ICA Diploma are highly desirable.
