Machine Learning Engineer

I’m currently working with a growing start-up based in the Flemish Region who are looking to bring in a Machine Learning Engineer permanently. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building real products in a fast-moving, start-up environment.

This is not a corporate role, and it’s not focused on AI research — they’re looking for someone practical, product-driven, and passionate about what they build.

The role

You’ll be joining a small, ambitious team and will play a key role in building and deploying machine learning solutions. The company moves quickly, works collaboratively, and values people who take ownership and enjoy being involved beyond a strict 9–5.

What They’re Looking For

• Around 5 years of experience in machine learning or a closely related role
• Start-up experience or clear evidence you’ve built and shipped real products
• A hands-on engineer who enjoys problem-solving and ownership
• Someone passionate, hard-working, and motivated by building things
• Comfortable working flexibly — as with most start-ups, work can extend beyond standard hours
• Not coming from a purely corporate background
• Not focused on academic achievements — practical experience matters most
• Tech stack flexibility — they care more about capability than time spent on specific tools
• Must be Based in Belgium for this role

Nice to Have

• English and Dutch (both are a strong plus)
• A good sense of humour — the team is smart but not overly serious

Location & Setup

• Hybrid working: 3 days from home, 2 days in the office
• Permanent position only
