Senior Backend Engineer
We’re on the hunt for a Senior Backend Engineer to help shape the backbone of our client's next-generation platform. If you love solving hard problems, designing scalable systems, and seeing your code power experiences for thousands of users every day, this is for you.

You’ll be at the center of our product ecosystem, building robust backend services that drive everything from APIs to data pipelines. You’ll influence architecture, system reliability, and performance - your work will directly impact how fast, stable, and scalable our platform becomes.
What You’ll Do
- Architect, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs
- Design database schemas, caching strategies, and asynchronous processes that scale
- Optimize system performance, reliability, and security across microservices
- Own internal tooling, developer workflows, and reusable backend frameworks
- Write thorough automated tests to ensure reliability and maintainability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on architecture, roadmap, and best practices
Tech Playground
- Node.js and Java
- RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and event-driven systems
- SQL & NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis)
- Queueing & streaming: Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar
- CI/CD, containerization, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Observability, monitoring, and logging tools
You Bring
- 4+ years of backend engineering experience
- Hands-on expertise in building scalable, production-ready systems
- Deep understanding of databases, caching, concurrency, and distributed systems
- Experience in cloud-native deployments and microservices architecture
- A proactive approach to technical decision-making and problem-solving
- Based in Amsterdam (or open to occasional on-site collaboration)
- Fluent in English; Dutch is a bonus
