We're looking for a Data Scientist


We’re looking for a Data Scientist to join our data team and work closely with product and marketing teams. This role is ideal for someone early in their data science career who wants to apply strong statistical thinking to real-world gaming problems. Data plays a central role in how we design games, grow players, and make decisions.

Matchingham Games is a gaming company, operating as both a developer and a publisher, founded in 2020 and based in the United Kingdom. We develop mobile games that reach out to millions of users. Our team is comprised of creative and critical thinkers as well as talented technical professionals who are driven to pursue bright career paths. We are motivated to create a learning environment where everyone can learn from one another. We build our own games internally and also publish titles from partner studios worldwide. We are the publisher of 1 USA Top 50 Grossing game and around 8 games that have reached the USA Top Charts (Top 10).


Responsibilities & Roles


  • Analyze gameplay, product, and marketing data to generate actionable insights
  • Design and evaluate experiments (A/B tests, feature rollouts, UA tests)
  • Apply statistical methods to measure impact, understand player behavior, and support decision-making
  • Build and maintain analytical queries, notebooks, and dashboards
  • Collaborate with product managers, game designers, and marketers to translate questions into analyses
  • Contribute to player segmentation, LTV modeling, and personalization efforts
  • Proactively propose hypotheses, metrics, and analytical approaches


Requirements


  • 1–3 years of experience in data science, analytics, or a similar role
  • Strong foundation in statistics, especially hypothesis testing, random sampling, regression, basic curve fitting, and causal thinking (e.g. understanding bias, confounding, and experiment design)
  • Solid SQL skills and experience with Python (preferred) or R / JavaScript
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Databricks (BigQuery preferred)
  • Experience working with notebooks such as Jupyter, Polynote, or similar


Nice to Have


  • Experience with Looker, Looker Studio, Tableau, or similar BI tools
  • Exposure to machine learning techniques such as boosted trees, Markov chains, and multi-armed bandits
