Data Modeler
Central Bank of Oman is seeking to Recruit Competent, Committed, Self-motivated and Enthusiastic Omani Candidate as Data Modeler.
Job Purpose:
The Data Modeler is responsible for designing and maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models related to aspects of master data and metadata in order to support enterprise data management, analytics and governance objectives. This role ensures data integrity, accuracy, and relevance through robust modelling practices, collecting, curating and managing metadata, managing master data practices as well as enabling insightful analysis aligned with regulatory and policy objectives. It supports decision-making by transforming raw data into actionable insights and helps maintain a reliable data foundation across the organization.
Key duties and Tasks:
- Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support data collections and internal analytics of CBO.
- Work closely with business users, policy experts, and IT teams to gather data requirements and translate them into effective data models.
- Understand the linkages to master and reference data as well as the meta data requirements when engaging with business users
- Document metadata, data definitions, lineage, and relationships to support governance and transparency.
- Support the integration of data from multiple internal and external sources into a centralized data warehouse or data lake environment.
- Ensure consistency and quality of data models across projects, aligning with enterprise architecture standards.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (supervision, policy, legal, IT) to establish and enforce data standards, naming conventions, and classification schemas.
- Monitor and manage data quality, conduct root-cause analysis of data issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with data stewards and data governance teams to maintain data quality and standards.
- Support the integration and alignment of master data with external reference sources (e.g., LEI, SWIFT BIC, national identifiers).
- Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise metadata standards, procedures, and repositories.
- Document and manage business and technical metadata for key data assets, including regulatory reporting data, reference data, and analytics datasets.
- Collaborate with data stewards, analysts, and IT teams to collect metadata from various systems and data sources.
- Create and maintain data dictionaries, glossaries, and lineage documentation that support data quality, transparency, and compliance
- Generate reports and dashboards using BI tools to support internal stakeholders and reporting functions.
- Contribute to regulatory innovation projects, including adoption of SupTech/RegTech solutions and advanced analytics.
- Support data validation and reconciliation activities, particularly in the context of data submissions and the data engineering activities.
- Monitor metadata quality and completeness and drive improvements across data domains.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Data Management, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- 4 to 6 years of experience in data modelling, data analysis, or business intelligence roles.
- An additional 2 -3 years of experience addressing/ managing metadata and/ or master data management.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Master’s degree in data Analytics, Data Science, Financial Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications in data modelling, analytics, or business intelligence (e.g., CBIP, CDMP, DAMA, Power BI certification).
- Familiarity with regulatory metadata standards and frameworks (e.g., XBRL taxonomies, ISO 11179).
- Familiarity with international financial identifiers (e.g., LEI, CUSIP, ISIN, etc.).
- Experience working in financial services, regulatory agencies, central banks, or government institutions.
- Familiarity with supervisory data collection processes, financial institution reporting, or prudential supervision.
- Participation in enterprise data integration or modernization initiatives.
- Experience contributing to data governance or metadata management programs.
- Familiarity with regulatory submissions, supervisory reporting and analysis.
- Participation in MDM implementation and data transformation/ cleansing projects.
