Junior Sales Engineer (Pre-Sales) – Business Intelligence

The Opportunity
Iperium is supporting a global enterprise analytics software vendor in hiring a Sales Engineer (Pre-Sales) for their German team.
This role is designed for a technically strong candidate who wants to grow into an enterprise pre-sales career. You will be mentored by senior Sales Engineers and given structured exposure to customer-facing pre-sales activities, enterprise data architectures, and complex BI environments.
It is an excellent step for someone coming from analytics, BI consulting, data engineering, or technical implementation who wants to move closer to customers and commercial decision-making.
The Role
As a Junior Sales Engineer, you will initially support senior pre-sales professionals and progressively ramp into owning parts of the sales cycle.
You will work closely with Sales, Consulting, and Partner teams to help design and present analytics solutions that solve real business problems for enterprise customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Support discovery sessions to understand customer goals and data challenges
- Assist in building and delivering custom demos and presentations
- Help respond to RFIs and RFPs with technical input
- Work with Account Executives to support active sales opportunities
- Learn how to position enterprise BI platforms against competitors
- Engage with partners and internal stakeholders
- Gradually take on more responsibility as skills and confidence grow
Required Technical Skills
This is a technical-first role with mentoring provided on pre-sales execution.
Must-have
- Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational databases
- Working knowledge of Python (data analysis, automation, APIs, or scripting)
- Understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, and analytics concepts
- Exposure to BI / analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, Looker, etc.)
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
- Fluent German and professional English
- Based in or able to commute to Frankfurt (hybrid role)
Nice-to-have
- Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or modern data stacks
- Background in BI consulting, analytics engineering, or data analysis
- Interest in customer-facing and commercial roles
