C++ Application Software Engineer (Green Energy)

The Role:

We are looking for a skilled C++ Application Software Engineer to join a growing technology team developing software solutions that support the transition to clean and sustainable energy. You will work on modern, user-facing applications used to monitor, control, and optimise green energy systems.

This is an application-level role, focused on building robust, maintainable, and high-performance software rather than low-level or embedded development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain C++ applications for green energy platforms
• Build intuitive and responsive GUI applications using Qt and QML
• Work with SQL databases for data storage, retrieval, and performance optimisation
• Manage and maintain build systems using CMake
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and domain experts to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Improve application performance, reliability, and scalability
• Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and best development practices
• (Optional) Explore and integrate AI-driven features such as data analysis, optimisation, or predictive insights

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong experience with modern C++ (C++17 or newer)
• Proven experience developing application-level software
• Solid knowledge of Qt (Qt Widgets and/or Qt Quick) and QML
• Experience working with SQL databases
• Hands-on experience with CMake and structured build systems
• Good understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and clean code principles
• Comfortable working in a Linux and/or Windows development environment

Nice to Have:

• Experience applying AI / machine learning techniques in software applications
• Familiarity with data-driven optimisation or analytics
• Experience in the energy, renewables, or industrial technology sectors
• Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages for tooling or AI workflows
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
