Data Engineer

We’re looking for a skilled Data Engineer to join a subsurface team in Stavanger, at the heart of Norway’s energy and geoscience community.

About the Role:

As a Data Engineer working with subsurface data, you’ll design, build, and maintain robust data solutions that support geoscientists, reservoir engineers, and decision-makers. You’ll work with large, complex datasets from across the subsurface domain enabling high-quality analysis, modelling, and visualisation.

What You’ll Do:

• Design and maintain scalable data pipelines for subsurface data (seismic, wells, production, reservoir models)
• Integrate data from multiple sources into modern data platforms and cloud environments
• Ensure data quality, governance, and accessibility for subsurface users
• Collaborate closely with geoscientists and engineers to understand data needs and workflows
• Enable analytics, machine learning, and visualization use cases
• Contribute to best practices in data engineering, automation, and DevOps

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience as a Data Engineer, preferably within subsurface, energy, or geoscience domains
• Strong skills in Python and/or SQL; experience with data orchestration tools is a plus
• Familiarity with subsurface data types and standards (e.g. wells, seismic, production data)
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and modern data architectures
• A collaborative mindset and ability to translate domain needs into technical solutions
• Fluency in English and Norwegian
