Job Purpose
The System Administrator is responsible for the stable, secure, and efficient operation of the Bank’s core infrastructure platforms, with primary accountability for Microsoft technologies and virtualization, and working exposure to Linux, compute, storage, and backup environments. The role supports both Run-the-Bank (RTB) operations and Change-the-Bank (CTB) initiatives, ensuring high availability, security compliance, and operational resilience.

Operational:
Core Systems Administration
- Administer and support Active Directory (AD), including domain services, GPOs, DNS, DHCP, and identity lifecycle management.
- Manage and maintain Microsoft Exchange (On-Prem / Hybrid) and Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Azure AD integration.
- Administer Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022), including installation, configuration, hardening, and troubleshooting.
- Manage VMware virtualization platforms (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter), including VM provisioning, performance tuning, and capacity management.
Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain system security controls, including server hardening, access control, privilege management, and audit readiness.
- Support security tools and endpoint/server protection, vulnerability remediation, and compliance with Bank security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with InfoSec teams on security incidents, audits, and remediation activities.
Patch & Lifecycle Management
- Plan and execute patch management for Windows servers, VMware components, and supporting infrastructure in line with change management processes.
- Ensure timely remediation of vulnerabilities and maintain patch compliance reports.
Infrastructure Operations & Support
- Provide operational support for Dell computer platforms, including basic hardware monitoring, firmware coordination, and vendor engagement.
- Support enterprise storage and backup platforms, including monitoring, backup verification, and restore testing.
- Perform system monitoring, capacity planning, performance analysis, and root-cause analysis for incidents.
- Provide working support and exposure to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments, including basic administration troubleshooting, and coordination with Linux SME.
- Participate in infrastructure upgrades, migrations, DR drills, and technology refresh initiatives.
Documentation & Governance
- Maintain system documentation, SOPs, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.
- Adhere to ITIL processes for incident, problem, change, and configuration management.
- Work closely with internal teams, and vendor teams to ensure stable and secure platform operations.
People
- Continuously enhance technical skills across Microsoft platforms, virtualization, security, and infrastructure operations to stay current with evolving technologies.
- Proactively pursue relevant certifications, training, and hands-on learning aligned with the Bank’s technology roadmap and security requirements.
- Stay informed on emerging risks, vulnerabilities, and best practices in system administration and platform security.
- Demonstrate a strong learning mindset, adapting to new tools, platforms, and operating models as the Bank’s technology landscape evolves.
- Actively apply newly acquired knowledge to improve system stability, security, and operational efficiency.
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field.
Work Experience:
- 6 years of hands-on experience in system administration within enterprise or regulated environments (banking preferred) preferably in Oman or GCC
- Experience working in high-availability, security-sensitive environments is highly desirable.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in production environments.
- Clear communication and coordination with cross-functional teams (IT, InfoSec, vendors).
- High ownership, discipline, and attention to detail.
