Media Officer

The role of the Media Officer is to assist with the development and delivery of a broad range of strategic media and communications activities to promote awareness of the QAS, the achievements of its staff and volunteers, and its relevant safety awareness messages.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:

• A sound knowledge of contemporary media and communications principles and practices with the proven ability to liaise effectively with media representatives and a range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated analytical and practical media skills, with the proven ability to contribute to the development of media and communications strategies across a range of media, including online.
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills with the proven ability to meet frequent, tight deadlines in the production of accurate and high-quality media releases, speeches, internal publications and online content.
• Demonstrated understanding of the concepts, principles and techniques required for the successful coordination of a promotional program.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills with the proven ability to work and collaborate effectively within a cohesive, multi-disciplinary team to meet organisational demands, as well as the ability to work independently if required.
  
  
  

The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:

• The incumbent may be required to travel on official business and the possession of a C class driver's licence may be required.
• The ability to travel intrastate by air is required.
• Work outside normal hours is required.
• Whilst not mandatory, a tertiary qualification in the communications field (e.g. journalism, public relations, marketing) or demonstrated experience in a media environment will be highly regarded.
• Video editing and audio skills will also be highly regarded.
