What You’ll Do

You will join a newly formed, app-first product team that is responsible for designing and building digital heat onboarding and delivery flows for Eneco customers.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will focus on:

  • Designing backend services that support complex customer journeys without exposing complexity to the user
  • Translating business rules and operational constraints into clear, maintainable backend logic
  • Ensuring backend decisions are consistent, explainable, and resilient to change
  • Actively shaping the technical direction of this new domain, from API design to data ownership

Our backend landscape is built on .NET Core and Azure, with Azure DevOps as our CI/CD backbone. You will operate with a high level of autonomy and responsibility within this environment.

Is this about you?

  • Extensive hands-on experience with .NET / .NET Core in complex, business-critical environments
  • Strong experience designing and operating cloud-native backend services in Azure
  • Proven ability to work with Azure DevOps (ADO) and fully automated CI/CD pipelines
  • Senior-level ownership mindset: comfortable making decisions in domains that are still evolving
  • Strong communication skills in English, able to align technical solutions with product and business stakeholders

You’ll be responsible for

  • Designing, building, and owning backend services in .NET for a new digital product domain
  • Making architectural and technical decisions that balance customer experience, operational reality, and long-term scalability
  • Collaborating closely with Product, Design, and Frontend to enable simple and trustworthy customer journeys
  • Safeguarding backend quality through clean code, testing, and clear API contracts
  • Contributing to Eneco-wide backend standards and best practices through your seniority and experience

You will work in a small cross-functional team with:

  • A Product Owner
  • A freelance Product Designer
  • A Frontend Engineer (50%)
  • You, as the Senior Backend Engineer
  • An Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager helps keep priorities clear, removes blockers, and supports you in doing your work well. You are trusted to take ownership and are given the space to do so.

  • Gross annual salary between €80.000 and €11.000 Including FlexBudget, 8% holiday allowance, and depending on your role a bonus or collective profit sharing.
