TIND is a Norwegian scale-up with roots from CERN and NTNU, headquartered in Oslo. The company has developed a Digital Archive software platform, delivered through a SaaS model to universities and research institutions worldwide. Most of TIND's customers are located in the United States and include renowned institutions such as UC Berkeley, Duke University, and the United Nations. Today, TIND has a team of 20 employees and offices in Oslo and the U.S. The company focuses on in-house development and expertise to deliver the best possible product.
Role Description
We are looking for a technical and collaborative QA Lead to join our team as our first dedicated QA specialist. In this position, you will take ownership of testing processes across our products. You will be responsible for day-to-day QA of development tickets, designing and executing end-to-end test automation, and defining our broader testing strategy. This role requires a strong technical mindset and the ability to collaborate closely with developers, the product manager, and the CTO to ensure we deliver high-quality, reliable features to some of the world's most renowned academic institutions.
You will play a key role in strengthening our continuous delivery pipeline by building a scalable testing framework and culture of quality. You will have the freedom to select the right tools and define the testing roadmap, making this an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our engineering quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute day-to-day QA of development tickets, including reviewing requirements, creating test cases, and performing functional and exploratory testing.
- Define and maintain a testing strategy and process.
- Design and implement test automation (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, Selenium) to build reliable end-to-end and smoke/regression test suites.
- Improve the CI/CD pipeline by integrating automated tests to increase release confidence and reduce regressions.
- Manage test data and environments to ensure consistent configurations for staging and testing real-world conditions.
- Run performance and reliability testing for critical features and APIs, monitoring for system bugs and regressions.
- Collaborate with the Product Manager to clarify acceptance criteria, create easy-to-understand release notes, and improve feature documentation.
Qualifications
- Relevant experience as a QA Engineer or Software Engineer focusing on tests with a proven track record of owning QA initiatives and improving software quality.
- Strong skills in test automation frameworks (Cypress, Selenium, or similar).
- Comfortable with scripting and backend data loading (Python, Bash, SQL, etc.).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, etc.) and performance/load testing tools.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to own QA end-to-end.
- Experience from the library industry or with library systems is a plus.
- Entrepreneurial mindset: self-starter, proactive, able to identify quality gaps, and propose practical solutions to the CTO.
