Bilingual Senior PHP/Laravel Developer

This role offers the chance to lead backend and API development for a cutting-edge, customer-facing chatbot platform. You will design, build, and maintain production-grade APIs, webhooks, and integration services that power complex workflows while ensuring high standards of security, reliability, and performance. The position emphasizes close collaboration with product and operations teams to implement conversation-driven flows, develop AI-powered endpoints, and integrate with live agent systems. Ideal candidates are experienced in PHP/Laravel, RESTful API design, webhook handling, and secure data practices, and thrive in a fast-paced, technically challenging environment. Bilingual communication skills are required to interact with global teams effectively.

Accountabilities

• Design, implement, and maintain RESTful APIs and webhook handlers using PHP/Laravel
• Integrate the chatbot with internal and external systems securely, ensuring robust error handling
• Build endpoints to manage session persistence, enabling resume-able conversations
• Implement live agent transfer workflows, ensuring structured data and conversation context is passed reliably
• Develop and deploy new AI summarizer endpoints to provide progress updates and summaries
• Ensure secure handling of PII and sensitive customer data across transport and storage
• Document endpoint specifications, payload examples, integration notes, and deployment instructions
• Collaborate with product and operations teams on flow triggers, escalation rules, and acceptance testing
  
  

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software development experience
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with PHP and Laravel
• Proven experience building production APIs, webhooks, and real-time integration flows
• Strong understanding of API authentication/authorization patterns, request validation, rate limiting, and idempotency
• Experience with background jobs/queues, retry strategies, and durable session state
• Solid database modeling and performance fundamentals with MySQL or PostgreSQL
• Demonstrated competence in security practices for handling sensitive customer data (PII)
• Bilingual proficiency to communicate effectively in English and Portuguese
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating with credit or identity verification workflows under regulated data constraints (GLBA/PCI)
• AWS deployment experience (ECS, Lambda, RDS) within VPC constraints
• Experience with embedded widgets, cross-domain considerations, and chatbot UX flows
• Familiarity with AI or summarization endpoints and workflow automation
