The Bridge Project Coordinator supports the planning, execution, and closeout of bridge and civil infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for coordinating technical, administrative, and field support activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract documents, schedules, and budgets. The Bridge Project Coordinator plays a key role in document control, cost tracking, schedule updates, procurement coordination, and communication between the field, project management team, subcontractors, consultants, and owners.
The role requires a working knowledge of bridge construction, structural concrete, heavy civil sequencing, and regulatory requirements, combined with strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. The Project Coordinator actively supports Sierra’s culture of safety, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager with defining project scope, execution strategies, and work sequencing.
- Support development and maintenance of project schedules, look-ahead plans, and milestone tracking.
- Coordinate internal kickoff meetings and ensure action items are documented and followed up.
- Assist with constructability reviews of drawings, specifications, and work plans.
- Maintain up-to-date project documentation and drawing registers.
- Track project costs, labour hours, equipment usage, and production quantities.
- Assist with budget monitoring, cost forecasting, and variance reporting.
- Support preparation and review of subcontractor progress claims and supplier invoices.
- Assist with change management, including Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Change (RFC), and pricing support.
- Maintain organized records for contracts, purchase orders, and change documentation.
- Assist with procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
- Coordinate material deliveries, shop drawings, and approvals with suppliers and consultants.
- Track subcontractor compliance requirements, including insurance, safety documentation, and contractual deliverables.
- Support coordination of subcontractor schedules and site access requirements.
- Provide day-to-day support to site superintendents, forepersons, and self-perform crews.
- Assist with quantity take-offs, work tracking, and progress measurement.
- Coordinate survey, layout, inspection, and testing activities.
- Support resolution of technical issues related to drawings, forming, reinforcing, staging, and access.
- Participate in site walks, progress reviews, and coordination meetings.
- Support implementation of Sierra’s Safety Program and site-specific safety plans.
- Assist with tracking safety documentation, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Support implementation of the Quality Control Program, including inspection records, test reports, and NCR tracking.
- Assist with environmental compliance requirements, including erosion control, watercourse protection, and permit conditions.
- Promote a proactive, safety-first mindset across all project activities.
- Prepare meeting minutes, progress reports, and internal project updates.
- Assist the Project Manager with communication to owners, consultants, inspectors, and stakeholders.
- Track and distribute project correspondence, drawings, and revisions.
- Escalate risks, schedule concerns, and cost issues to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
- Assist with preparation of as-built drawings, closeout documentation, and turnover packages.
- Support completion of deficiency lists, warranty documentation, and final inspections.
- Participate in post-project reviews and lessons-learned sessions.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned, whether specifically or generally related to the role
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 2–6+ years of experience in bridge, structural concrete, or heavy civil construction.
- Exposure to bridge construction methods, formwork systems, reinforcing steel, concrete placement, and heavy civil sequencing.
- Working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Familiarity with Ontario Health & Safety Act and Construction Regulations.
- Understanding of environmental controls and infrastructure project requirements is an asset.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office and construction/project management software.
- Willingness to work both in office and field environments.
