Job Description

1 x 1FTE, 1 x 0.8FTE, 1 x 0.6FTE

We are recruiting for three fixed term Careers and Employability Consultant-level posts to cover parental leave during 2026 and early 2027. The roles are part of a service which brings together our Student and Graduate employability offer, with our consultancy services for Academic colleagues and Employers, to deliver positive impact on the educational (progression) outcomes of LBU students and graduates.

This is an exciting time to join Leeds Beckett University and the Employer Partnerships & Student Futures Service (previously Business Engagement). The service includes Beckett Careers & Degree Apprenticeships – this position will work within our careers team. In 2026 we embark upon our new institutional 5-year strategy where employability remains a critical focus for our University. At the same time, we will be entering a new phase in our service development, which will see an evolved approach towards responding to the employability needs of our students through partnership and collaboration across the institution. With stretching ambitions to ensure every student succeeds, the Employer Partnerships & Student Futures service will play a critical role in Leeds Beckett’s ambitions for our graduates and in our role as a leading and influential anchor institution to our region.

About The Roles And Team

The roles will be part of one of our service area teams. Working directly with Students to support their career development as part of curricular or interdisciplinary careers education and experiential learning. Working with Graduates as they make the transition into the workplace and navigate early (or next) career decision making. Working with Employers on opportunity generation and supporting employer engagement with Students and Graduates through a range of activities. Working with Academics on best practice in embedding careers and employability learning, within subject disciplines. Colleagues will contribute to distinct project and development work and bring their own specialist knowledge and experience - reflective of the breadth of expertise shared across the HE careers and employability community.

Whilst the positions may work in depth in an aspect of careers service provision, they will be part of a service-wide approach to come together on broader collaborative employability priorities that impact pan-university. In terms of team approach and ways of working - you’ll be part of a culture that encourages agility, embraces innovation and empowers colleagues as act as autonomous professionals, guided by the strategic goals of the service and University.

About You

We’re keen to hear from anyone who has experience of employability and career development learning in Higher Education, or in a related setting, and who has developed and delivered employability activity that has led to positive outcomes. We have three opportunities available on full and part-time basis (1FTE, 0.8FTE and 0.6FTE) and we’re open to exploring different working patterns and ways of working to meet that. If you’re excited by the prospect of influencing futures from within the Careers Team, then it would be great to hear from you.

Closing Date - Sunday 18th January 2026 (23.59)

Interview date - w/c 9th February (this may be subject to change)
