Founding Engineer/Technical Co-founder (Med-Tech - Global Ambition)
This is not a development job; it is a Founding Engineer/Technical Co-founder role demanding relentless commitment and a deep business-first mindset. You will partner directly with a sole founder who has a proven, multi-exit track record in med-tech, having built and sold previous businesses for over $100 million, with the singular goal of creating a billion-dollar global health technology company.
We require a co-founder who understands that technical decisions must serve commercial outcomes. You will take sole technical ownership of the entire stack, aiming to launch and scale rapidly across Australia before executing global expansion. The platform uses advanced AI to triage patient symptoms, generate recommendations, and summarize findings for doctors before they conduct a rapid virtual consultation and issue a digital prescription.
The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated history of successfully building and scaling a software product or business from scratch. Crucially, this is not a 9-to-5 role. Building a billion-dollar business demands intensity, urgency, and graft. We need someone prepared to dedicate themselves fully to match the founder's ambition and work ethic. The role is hybrid, based in St Leonards, Sydney, requiring a few days a week in the office for hands-on collaboration (no set days).
Tech Stack & Compensation
- Core Stack: Node.js (Backend), React (Frontend), AWS (Cloud)
- Location: Hybrid (St Leonards, Sydney)
- Compensation: $350,000 - $500,000 AUD
- Equity: 10% of the business (option to more equity for a lower base)
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a technical leader or founder who has successfully built and scaled a software product/business from inception to a significant user base.
- A fierce business and commercial mindset, prioritizing market needs and rapid delivery over purely technical perfection.
- Deep expertise across the chosen tech stack: Node.js, React, and AWS, with the foresight to architect systems for international scale.
- Exceptional ability to design, architect, and implement scalable, secure, and compliant systems.
- Demonstrated proficiency in integrating, deploying, and managing complex AI/ML models as production-ready services.
- Residency in or willingness to relocate to Sydney with the ability to work in the St Leonards office a minimum of two days per week for essential collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Partner directly with the single founder to define the product vision, strategy, and execute the technical roadmap with a focus on market adoption.
- Take complete, end-to-end ownership of the entire tech stack, ensuring reliability, performance, and readiness for global expansion.
- Lead the development of the core product, focusing on the secure, compliant, and highly effective AI-powered patient triage system.
- Establish and enforce best practices for code quality, security, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure rapid, high-quality iteration.
- Define the strategy for data management, governance, and the integration of third-party clinical data and digital prescription systems in the Australian market.
- Maintain a high pace of iteration, delivering Minimum Viable Product (MVP) features quickly while maintaining technical integrity for long-term scale and future internationalisation.
- Act as the company's first technical hire, positioning yourself to build, lead, and mentor the future engineering team as the company grows globally.
