Full-Time, Permanent.

Altitude is seeking a Linux/DevOps Engineer to join a trusted provider delivering reliable broadband across rural, regional and remote Australia.

Step into a senior role where your skills in network optimisation will directly drive availability, scalability, and customer experience. Join a fast-growing ISP where you will lead performance and reliability across NBN and Opticomm networks, driving capacity planning, optimisation, and network innovation.

If you are ready to take on a mission-critical role shaping ISP network performance, apply now to be part of a high-impact team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver infrastructure engineering across Linux-based and open-source environments, ensuring the performance and availability of critical ISP systems
  • Operate and optimise access across NBN POIs and Opticomm hubs, including CVC sizing and VLAN handoff
  • Engineer and manage BNG platforms (Cisco, Juniper, or Linux-BNG) for PPPoE/IPoE, DHCP, and RADIUS
  • Design resilient Layer 2 segmentation with VLAN, QinQ, LACP, and MLAG on Cumulus Linux
  • Build and maintain in-house Linux network services and automation using Ansible and Git
  • Monitor, analyse, and optimise performance with advanced telemetry, observability, and packet analysis tools.

Key Requirements:

  • Linux background with a foundational understanding of networking concepts
  • Strong interest in automation and configuration management using tools such as Ansible and Puppet, with a curiosity for Cumulus and open-source networking technologies; candidates from ISP or Telco environments with similar technology stacks are highly regarded
  • Extensive experience in ISP access/aggregation operations
  • Strong NBN/Opticomm exposure
  • Hands-on experience with BNG operations, subscriber QoS, and policy enforcement
  • Proficiency in Linux networking, automation (Ansible, scripting), and monitoring stacks (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK/Graylog)
  • Strong troubleshooting, technical leadership, and ability to mentor teams.
