Get to know Visual Components
Visual Components is a global software company helping manufacturers move from concept to reality faster. Our 3D simulation software enables companies to design, simulate, and analyze production systems virtually validating concepts before making costly investments. Built on Microsoft technologies, our platform runs on Azure cloud and Windows 11, and we continuously evolve to meet the needs of modern manufacturing.
Our software is trusted by over 2400 pioneers worldwide, from small manufacturers to global automotive corporations. With headquarters in Espoo, Finland, and offices in the US, Germany, and Japan, we are truly international.
The role and the team
We are looking for an Engineering Lead to establish and guide a new team, Production Simulation, focused on advancing factory and production line simulation capabilities. This role ensures that our simulation workflows, process modeling tools, and analysis features are robust, efficient, and scalable—empowering customers to design and optimize manufacturing operations with confidence.
You will collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, and other engineering leads to deliver core simulation features, including layout planning, material flow analysis, and production performance metrics. The team operates at the heart of our Factory Simulation charter, driving innovation in usability, credibility, and integration with broader manufacturing ecosystems.
Our team size is typically 5–8 people. As this team is created by people coming from outside of the company, we expect you to be able to come to the office 3 days a week to ensure the best possible start and build up the team.
Your impact
As an Engineering Lead, you will create an environment where people and products flourish. You will keep work flowing, help the team reach decisions, and ensure clarity and trust in how we work together.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and mentor the Production Simulation team through regular 1:1s, focusing on wellbeing and professional growth.
- Drive improvements in:
- Factory simulation workflows: layout planning, process modeling, and throughput analysis.
- Analysis tools: cycle time, bottleneck detection, and KPI dashboards
- Integration: ensure compatibility with Python-based automation and external data sources
- Quality assurance: maintain credibility of simulation results through rigorous testing.
- Collaborate with other teams on cross-functional dependencies (e.g., UX/UI, robotics simulation, cloud services).
- Facilitate team decision-making and maintain momentum toward shared goals.
- Co-create and evolve Agile practices and metrics for smooth workflow.
- Provide technical and quality oversight, including design reviews and testing strategies.
- Champion continuous improvement in process, tooling, and product quality.
- Coding is not the primary focus of this role (approx. 70% leadership, 30% coding).
Teck stack
- Languages: .NET (C#), C++
- Simulation Frameworks: Visual Components platform
- Tools: Windows, Visual Studio, VS Code, Azure DevOps
